From Wang Hongxu's Complete Collection of Patterns and Treatments in External Medicine, the representative formula for yin-type deep abscesses. Shu Di Huang greatly supplements essence-blood as sovereign, Lu Jiao Jiao and Rou Gui warm yang and disperse cold as ministers, Ma Huang opens the interstices and Bai Jie Zi transforms phlegm and disperses nodulation as assistants — so that yang is invigorated, cold congelation disperses, and yin abscesses resolve.
