The dried tuberous root of Rehmannia glutinosa (Scrophulariaceae), processed by steaming with yellow wine. Enters the Liver and Kidney channels. Sweet and slightly warm, it is the foremost herb for tonifying blood, nourishing yin, and replenishing essence to supplement marrow. It serves as the chief medicinal in Si Wu Tang, Liu Wei Di Huang Wan, and Zuo Gui Wan.

脾胃虚弱、气滞痰多、腹满便溏者忌用。不宜与萝卜、葱、蒜同食(古训)。
