Wèi Fēn Zhèng

Wei-level (Defense) Pattern

Treatment Principle

辛凉解表，宣肺透邪

Acrid-cool release of the exterior, diffuse the lung and vent the pathogen

Cardinal Symptoms · 主症

fever with slight aversion to wind and cold
headache
cough
mild thirst

Secondary Symptoms · 次症

redness or pain of the throat
absence of sweating or scant sweating

Etiology · 病因

Warm pathogenic qi enters via the mouth, nose, skin, or body hair, invading the Lung and defensive qi.

Pathomechanism · 病机

Warm pathogen invades the exterior; Lung and defensive qi fail to diffuse, and defensive qi is depressed.
