Wu Jutong's acrid-cool light formula from Wen Bing Tiao Bian for early wind-warmth with Lung-defensive cough as the predominant symptom. Lighter in diaphoretic action than Yin Qiao San but more specialized in diffusing the Lung and stopping cough, it uses sang ye and ju hua as chief herbs for the presentation of cough with mild fever, slight thirst, and a floating rapid pulse.
Disperse wind and clear heat; diffuse the Lung and stop cough
Formula Rhyme
桑菊饮中桔杏翘,芦根甘草薄荷饶。清疏肺卫轻宣剂,风温咳嗽服之消。
—— 方剂学教材 (traditional mnemonic)
