Plum-pit qi refers to the subjective sensation of a foreign body stuck in the throat that can neither be coughed up nor swallowed, but does not affect eating. The pathomechanism is phlegm and qi mutually obstructing the throat.
Key differentiation: Phlegm-qi binding has prominent globus sensation worsened by emotional fluctuation; Liver qi stagnation has hypochondriac distension.
