Lower back pain centers on the lumbar region, which is considered the residence of the Kidneys. It is most closely associated with Kidney function. Common clinical patterns include cold-damp, damp-heat, blood stasis, and Kidney vacuity types.
Key differentiation: Kidney vacuity presents as dull persistent pain worsened by exertion; cold-damp shows heavy cold pain worsened by cold; damp-heat has burning pain; blood stasis causes fixed stabbing pain with limited range of motion.
